YA Books/Series I wish I had written

So I couldn't narrow it down to just ten.  Believe me, I tried. All of the books on this list have created a world that I want to live in and be a part of. I want  to do something like that for other readers one day.
Until that day, I  will continue  to live in these worlds that these amazing authors created.

1. Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
I don't really need to explain this one, do I ?

2. Cinder by Marissa Meyer
This book....this book is amazing. It would be super amazing to have been the one to write this book. I wish I could jump straight into the book and live in it (even though that is probably not wise considering that there is a evil queen going around trying to kill everyone )
3. Heist Society by Ally Carter
I love absolutely this book. I loved the characters and the twist and turns in the plot-line. It wasn't predictable, which actually, the ending took me by surprise in a number of ways. I'm even beginning to be okay with partial third person narration, who would have thought. I would be delighted to have written this book.

4. The distance between us by Kasie West
After reading this book I became an instant fan of  Kasie West. This book is lovely. This book is funny and cute. I loved it.

  5. Etiquette & Espionage by Gail Carriger
This book is pure, whimsical fun.  I was not in the right frame of mind to enjoy this the first time I picked it up in order to try to read it. It’s got a very lighthearted approach to world building, and  it wasn't until my second attempt that I actually appreciated that. But once I was in the mood for a carefree adventure, this was just the perfect fix for it. Plus the cover is nice.

6. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
Come on, who would not want to write this book. I loved this book, and I am still in love with this book.  Why wouldn't you want to write this book

YA Books I Wish Had a Sequel

I know what many people are thinking about sequels — they are never as good as the original. While that sentiment may sometimes hold true, some sequels are still pretty darn good. But there are some stand alones that I wish had sequels. Here are just a few.

1. The Fault in our stars
You know what? Never mind on this one. John Green would probably just make me cry again, but I can't help myself. I had to add this. I have to admit that, yes, I was highly satisfied with the ending of this standalone, but still. I want to know what happens to Hazel after the ending. Will she be okay after that heartbreaking, heart wrenching, heart shattering ending? We will never know.

2. Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell
Come on, that ending. THAT ENDING!!!!!!

3. My life next door
Ok, fine. I know this one is technically cheating. I found out that there will be a sequel in 2015, but it isn't completely about Jace and Samantha. It just isn't fair. I want more Jace and Samantha.

4. Beauty Queen by Libba Bray
I loved this book. It was hilarious and down right amazing. I know it has an epilogue, but I want more. In all fairness, I know this book would be hard to write a sequel for, but that does not stop me from wanting more.

I know there are so many more books I should have added to this list (but I didn't).I am sorry. I am ashamed of myself. The thing was that list was way too long. But don't forget to leave a comment below.

Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins

Summary:Three years ago, Sophie Mercer discovered that she was a witch. It's gotten her into a few scrapes. Her non-gifted mother has been as supportive as possible, consulting Sophie's estranged father--an elusive European warlock--only when necessary. But when Sophie attracts too much human attention for a prom-night spell gone horribly wrong, it's her dad who decides her punishment: exile to Hex Hall, an isolated reform school for wayward Prodigium, a.k.a. witches, faeries, and shapeshifters. By the end of her first day among fellow freak-teens, Sophie has quite a scorecard: three powerful enemies who look like supermodels, a futile crush on a gorgeous warlock, a creepy tagalong ghost, and a new roommate who happens to be the most hated person and only vampire student on campus. Worse, Sophie soon learns that a mysterious predator has been attacking students, and her only friend is the number-one suspect. As a series of blood-curdling mysteries starts to converge, Sophie prepares for the biggest threat of all: an ancient secret society determined to destroy all Prodigium, especially her.

My Favorite Quote:"Wow," I heard Mom say, and I turned to her with a smile. "Good luck explaining to God that you used to spank one of his heavenly beings." Mom gave a startled laugh, "Sophie!". "What? You did. I hope you like hot weather, Mom, that’s all I’m saying."

My Review:This book is hilarious! Full on, laugh out loud funny. It's like a cross between Harry Potter, Vampire Academy,Sarah Mlynowski's Magic In Manhattan series, Anna and the French Kiss and Mean Girls meets Sabrina the teenage witch. That may seem a bit much for one book, but it works for this book. This book is a light, fun read that I read in the space of a day or two. It is undoubtedly aimed at a young adult audience, but this didn't affect my enjoyment at all. I would say it is a book for all ages. The book had a brilliant ending that left me wanting for more. A boarding school for witches and whatnot isn't exactly original and it's a hard field to compete in when you're up against the likes of J.K.Rowling, but Rachel Hawkins managed to do it, and I loved it. I won't say that I expected to hate it, but I did expect to be bored. I never imagined there would be moments that made me laugh out loud and annoyingly stereotypical bad boys that are actually hot enough to get away with being annoyingly stereotypical bad boys. Yes, you heard me right: another young adult novel with another hot but dangerous male love interest... but this time I completely loved it. Hawkins addresses some very real-world issues in this book, even though it's set in a fantasy world. She deals with jealousy, angst, teen sexuality, crushes, friendships, and just what makes a gorgeous prom dress. There is backstabbing, secrets, betrayal, mystery, and a cliffhanger ending that is enough to make you excited for the second book, but not so suspenseful that you feel as if everything went unresolved. I love the pacing of the story. It was not too slow or too fast. The only thing this novel is missing is some solid world-building, for there certainly were times when I wasn't sure if the author was being intentionally enigmatic or if it was just lack of information. Despite its faults, Hex Hall was an excellent read filled with sarcasm, hilarious situations, great characters and an intriguing story. I will most definitely be reading the second book in the series.

The One By Kiera Cass

Summary:THE SELECTION changed the lives of thirty-five girls forever. Now, only one will claim Prince Maxon’s heart…

For the four girls who remain at the palace, the friendships they’ve formed, rivalries they’ve struggled with and dangers they’ve faced have bound them to each other for the rest of their lives.

Now, the time has come for one winner to be chosen.

America never dreamed she would find herself anywhere close to the crown – or to Prince Maxon’s heart. But as the competition approaches its end and the threats outside the palace walls grow more vicious, America realises just how much she stands to lose – and how hard she’ll have to fight for the future she wants.

My favorite quote: “Break my heart. Break it a thousand times if you like. It was only ever yours to break anyway.”

My review: It’s taken me a little while to finish my review for this book mostly because I put off reading it. After I read the Selection I was hooked. Then The Elite killed it for me. I really wanted to see if Kiera Cass could make The One as painful for me as The Elite ( Click here to see my review for The Elite ). All I can say is I was so wrong. The Selection (book one) was amazing but The One was breathtaking. I was so excited but also nervous, to see how it would all end.
I have had many theories, hopes and speculations about what would happen in this book. To finally have answers was so good.  It's bittersweet because it's sad to say goodbye to a series which has sparked many discussions and stirred a lot of emotions.
Don't get me wrong I loved The Elite, but in many ways where The Elite lacked, The One delivered. I wanted more rebel attacks, less love triangle and a less frustrating America. I'm relieved to say I got it. I totally fangirled at the end of this book. I almost had to call an ambulance. Then the sadness hit me. I want to know what happens next. I wanted to see the rebel attacks happen on a bigger scale. Is it wrong that I wanted to see blood? Or at least anything other than hiding in a room. More attacks happened in the palaces and it was suspenseful and entertaining at once. There was an actual difference between the Northern and Southern rebels and it was recognised, much to my relief as prior to The One I failed to see the difference. The attacks aside from one, were less anti-climatic and some serious stuff happened.I’m sad because this series has come to an end. I’m happy because of how it ended. One of the best endings to a series I’ve read so far. This one, fortunately, did not disappoint. I only had one problem with the whole book, the thing is I would have liked a longer epilogue. In this book, America isn’t as conflicted as she was in The Elite and The Selection. She seems to know who she wants now and I really liked that. I knew who I wanted her to end up with from the beginning and I’m glad America finally caught up too.

Quick Rant: The covers. Oh my gosh. I loved all the covers for all three books. They all match, and I am in love with them.  honestly I bought the selection just for the cover. Usually, I read reviews in advance as well, but I just needed to have the book to look great on my shelf (Was that wrong of me?)

My rating: 4.8 out of 5

Favorite Quote: 'It turns out I'm absolutely terrible at staying away from you. It's a very serious problem.'

My review: Oh my Gosh . If I wanted to be honest the first book is way (like I mean ... way) better.  I don't think I have ever been more annoyed by a character before. It was like a really bad pingpong game throughout the entire book. America  wants Maxon, she wants Aspen, she wants neither, she wants both. I was just sitting almost yelling "MAKE UP YOUR MIND ALREADY". America  would  get wrapped up with either Aspen or Maxon and then completely forget about the other. She has a problem with trusting Maxon, when she is practically ( spoiler ....well sort of.. if you don't want to know, skip the blue words) cheating on Maxon with Aspen ( well...a bit...sort of). Either way what happen between Aspen and America during this book would have been considered treason (at least by the king).
Don't get me wrong "The Elite" is A highly frustrating and yet wonderfully breathtaking read. I'm not going to lie, whilst reading The Elite you'll probably develop a deep, deep hatred for some of the characters, America included (America especially).  I think the problem was that America has no idea what love is at all.  At some point in this book I remember thinking everyone in this book is incredibly stupid (expect Marlee). By the end of the book I was like ...
The problem is that I am not sure if that is a  bad or good thing.Even though I hated about 55 percent of this book, I will still read the last book. I mean I already put myself through the first two ( at least she will be forced to pick one guy).Hopefully I won't have to slap America in the face by the end of the last book. Fingers crossed.
